Meeting – New Castle, KY

22 members in attendance

President Phoebe Kerby opened the meeting with a reading of the unpublished minutes from the October, 2010 meeting. Minutes were approved with the following corrections: Miniature Horse World ad fee is $20.00, if you want to be included in the MAMHC Breeders List it is an additional $5.00

Treasurer's Report – Gordon Harris ended the year with $24,900. We started 2010 with $17,000.

Membership – reported by Phoebe Kerby for Laura Rothfuss, currently have 15 paid memberships. Please get renew your membership soon.

Gazette – Ashley Harris was unable to publish a gazette due to computer problems. Please send any type of article, info to share with others to her anytime…it can be stored and published in future gazettes. Suggestions to email the gazette with whatever information is available so we keep in touch with our members monthly so they feel included and reminded to participate.

Website – Curt Harris has the NEW website up and running. Curt did an awesome job on the site and members are encouraged to check it out. GREAT new things for members: Front page features rotating member contributed photos that shows visitors the beauty and variety of things to do with a miniature horse.
Rotating ads on the right side for farms/businesses that paid to be on the MAMHC Breeders List…click to go to their farm/business.
Contact list…email an officer directly via private link
Members List – Sorts the list by farm name, member name and state includes a map with pins showing the location of each member. Shows/Events – lists by date with clickable links to show forms, details and map
Photos – ADD your own photos to the members photo page! It is fun and easy to do. Members only…email the webmaster for your approval (assures only members can upload to our site). Then upload your pics to share! Pics are stored on Picasa (secure site).
Youth – HOW FUN…click the photo links at the bottom of their page to view hundreds of pics of kids showing, having fun at clinics, etc.
Links – Lists the MAMHC Breeders clickable farm/business links along with important links to registries, show facilities, etc.
Store – NEW and COOL … takes you to Café Press which is a secure online place to order MAMHC logo shirts, coats, hats, mugs…endless list of quality items and the club benefits a portion of the order! Clickable links at the bottom of each page to SHARE info with others via a wide variety of network sites…Facebook, Twitter…etc. NOW…MAMHC is truly connected…THANK YOU to Curt Harris.

Publicity Committee – Sandy Laing Equine Affaire is Thursday, April 7 through Sunday April 10th. NEED volunteers to work the booth…please contact Sandy Laing. It is a HUGE event with lots of interested horse enthusiasts. It is estimated 60,000 people come through the event over the 4 days…so sign up to join in on sharing our love for these small equine by helping at the club booth. It is a great way to make contacts. It is an indoor event with a variety of breeds, presentations, clinics and shopping! www.equineaffaire.com

Sandy is trying to get a grant from AMHA, used for educational events. Looking into doing webcast of Julep Cup 2011 again.

It will be: $75.00 pre-entry $90.00 post-entry

Laura Mullins is hiring an announcer for Silver Jubilee & Julep Cup Julep Cup will have music played during the classes Asking KMHB for $500.00 sponsorship Need more vendors at the Julep Cup MAMHC will provide flyers at the KY Horse Park main gate inviting visitors to the miniature horse show $100.00 approved to purchase new decorations for center ring Need sponsors for SILVER JULEP CUPS to be given at the Julep Cup Show. Planning a pizza party for Saturday night at the Julep Cup FREE MEMBERSHIP….HOW? If an exhibitor shows at all 3 of the MAMHC Shows…Silver Jubilee, Jambalaya and Julep Cup….then their 2012 MAMHC Membership fee will be FREE!! Approved by membership.

AMHR Show – Tim Ballard is looking into doing a show with another club like the Area II Club to get out name out since we are a new AMHR Club. It would be a covered arena end of July first part of August. There will NOT be an AMHR show with the AMHA show at our 2011 Jambalaya Show in Edinburg, IN this year. Members voted to purchase shirts for Laura Mullins show staff so they are recognizable as the MAMHC Staff…helps advertise that MAMHC is sponsoring…putting on these shows. Shirts to be ordered from the MAMHC Café Press link on our website.

AMHA Director Report – Sherry Crowe Complete meeting minutes of the AMHA Directors Meeting are on the AMHA website at www.amha.org Sherry encouraged everyone to read up on discussion in preparation for the upcoming AMHA Annual Meeting in February 16-20, 2011 in San Antonio, Tx…which will be webcast…see AMHA website for link.

Discussed expense of World Show awards Judging – World Show will use all 5 judges scores this year

Leasing – if you are leasing a horse, paperwork must be on file at the AMHA office by close of entries for the Regionals in order to show the leased horse there. Changed name of the AMHA Championship Shows back to the AMHA Regional Shows Qualifications for World Show to be discussed…possibly showing under 6 judges makes you qualified or Top 10 from Regionals

AMHA Marketing Committee – Connie Ballard AMHA received 750 requests to the website for info on miniature horses in 2010 from general interest, magazine ads, etc. Looking at cutting advertising budget and increasing contacts Clubs are not taking advantage of a program that broadcasts event information out on the associated press wire service contacting thousands of news, magazines, etc. Chairman Teri Collins to work on making clubs aware this service is available…incredible opportunity that is not used and AMHA is paying for the service.

MAMHC Clinic – Tim Ballard Membership voted to table event until 2012 due to costs
